The Microsoft Surface Go is the latest offering from the OS giant. It is a portable device and is affordable for those looking for a mid-range laptop. It was first unveiled in the US in July this year. Now the device is going live for pre-orders in India. The Surface Go has competition with the likes of the iPad Pro and Galaxy Tab S4.

The Microsoft Surface Go is a 2-in-1 hybrid laptop that can be utilised in different form factors. It comes with a pop-up stand and a robust design that replicates the premium Surface Pro. The SurfaceGo is flaunted with a 10-inch Pixel Sense display having a screen resolution of1,800 x 1,200 pixels and a 3:2 aspect ratio. The display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 that serves as a protection against accidental damages and scratches. It is compatible with the Surface Pen that features 4,096 levels of pressure sensitivity. The Surface Go has a thickness of 8.3 mm, and its weight is just 1.15 pounds.

The sturdy hardware quality of Microsoft is worth impressing since it is powered by a 7th-Gen Intel Pentium Gold Processor 4415Y. The device is available in memory configurations of 4GB and 8GB RAM.With 4 GB RAM variant comes the 64GB eMMC storage while the later comes with 128GB storage in the form of SSD. The manufacturer claims that the model has a battery life of 9 hours approx. The device runs Windows 10 Home in S mode.Users also get the freedom to update to the full version of Windows 10 for free.

The Surface Go sports a 5MP HD camera for video calling purpose. There is an 8 MP camera in the rear panel of the laptop.It is provided with a couple of microphones. From the connectivity perspective,the Surface Go features Surface connect for charging and docking and USB Type-C3.1 for seamless data transfer and adequate charging. The laptop is supplied with a 3.5mm headphone jack. The memory storage can be expanded using an external micro SD card that easily fits in the dedicated slot. The device also features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.

Pricing & Availability

Microsoft has partnered with e-commerce platform Flipkart for the sale of Surface Go. The device is already available for pre-orders. The base variant of 4GB/64GB retails at Rs 38,599. The higher model comes with a price tag of Rs 50,999. The Surface Go type cover (Black)can be purchased at Rs 8,699, and the signature type cover (colour) can be bought at Rs 11,799.
